A Life In Voice 2014

Join Bryan Ferry and the Leipziger Symphony Orchestra for the inaugural 2014 A Live In Voice award and a very special concert experience. Two nights only, June 8th and 9th, tickets on sale now.

Renowned for its wonderful acoustics and home of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra opening in 1981, the Gewandhaus concert hall today is the third building to bear the name in a history dating back to the American War of Independence.

The first Gewandhaus welcomed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to perform a concert in 1789, Felix Mendelssohn began conducting here in 1835 followed later by Richard Wagner and Johannes Brahms conducting premieres of their ‘Meistersinger’ Prelude and Violin Concerto respectively.

Großer Saal des Gewandhauses

In consideration of all the exalted venues around the world to premiere ALiV the choice was extremely challenging, but when you add names such as Peter Tchaikovsky, Edvard Grieg, Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss who all also conducted here, to an already outstanding list, the home and resting place of Johann Sebastian Bach, Leipzig’s Gewandhaus emerged a clear number one.
