Triple A Entertainment Limited, the promoters of the 'Route of Kings' concerts, have failed to meet agreed deadlines for the advance payment of event fees. Cancelled Shows posted by Jim Lawn 01.04.03 Bryan very much regrets having to cancel the last 4 shows on the 'Frantic' tour. There was nothing we could do and all decisions were taken after an independent doctor's advice. It is the Open Air Festival in Langesund. More details to follow. March Update updated 05.03.03 There have been a few enquiries about the Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music 'Essential Collection'. Essentially it is a mid-price catalogue re-issue of 'The Ultimate Collection' for a new EMI brand name 'Essential'. As the original artwork for 'The Ultimate Collection' was not approved we have put back the release until we have new artwork in place. With Virgin now being part of the EMI group there is an on-going discussion re. catalogue releases and ways of keeping the catalogue racked with retail. The 'Essential ' series will be given a big push in Europe to start with before going to other territories. We now have the mixes back for the live Roxy Music album and I'm progressing credits and label copy for release. The artwork is nearly finished as well so everything looks set for the final release date in May. I'll post the running order, venues etc. when we have final approval. At the end of the 'Frantic' tour we will start work on the next studio album but it is too early to speculate what it will sound like and when it will be released. There are a number of ideas around of what direction it might take and we are keen to get the sessions started as soon as possible. Finally we'd like to thank Katie, Anna, Sarah and Lucy for their work with us and welcome Louise, Shar and Michelle on board for the rest of the tour. Press News updated 26.02.03 Due to unforseen circumstances, Bryan did not appear on the BBC Breakfast show on Thursday 27th February. There are a few up-dates in terms of the tour schedule: Mexico City has been cancelled due to local difficulties and will not be re-scheduled. The second night at Shepherd's Bush has also been deleted from the schedule. We will be up-dating the band personnel in the next week or so ahead of the British dates. Roxy Live album posted by Jim Lawn 28.01.03 Phil Manzanera came in yesterday to work on the Roxy live album and it was good to catch up. I recently visited Phil at his new studio and was delighted to hear some of the new material he is working on. Later this week Andy Mackay will call in and at this point we are on schedule to complete work on the album before Rhett goes to the States for mixing. Artwork is progressing and we hope to have the booklet completed by next week. International News posted by Jim Lawn 24.01.03 CBC in Canada will air the Bryan Ferry concert from the Hummingbird Centre in Toronto last year in two 30 minute segments. They will air 30 minutes on March 1st and another 30 minutes on March 8th. The concert segments will be heard at 1:00 pm on CBC Radio 1 across Canada on the show, 'Definitely Not The Opera'. I can now confirm that Sarah Brown will not be on the South American leg of the tour and will be replaced by Michelle John-Douglas and Sharon White. Recent tours for Michelle include Ms. Dynamite and Dave Gilmour whilst Sha has also worked with Ms. Dynamite and Westlife. The Eagle Records release of the live Roxy album is progressing and I can now confirm that Bob Clearmountain will mix the album in Los Angeles and Bob Ludwig will be responsible for mastering. At present the final track selection is being transferred prior to mixing and involves a lot of technical stuff that I don't understand! Vatican television special posted by Jim Lawn 10.01.03 This is just a point of clarification re. Bryan's appearance at the Vatican television special. The only song performed was 'A Fool For Love'. Due to travel and technical difficulties we were unable to perform 'Silent Night'. Further Tour dates announced posted by Jim Lawn 09.01.03 I am finally in the position to post the last dates on the 'Frantic' tour. Essentially the March tour with one or two exceptions is designed to have us playing at towns and venues we haven't played over the last 3 years. South American dates for next month will be announced shortly. In terms of UK dates we may have one or two additions to announce by the end of the week.... Work has now started in earnest on the Roxy live album which will be released on Eagle records in late April/early May. It has been a marathon task to sift through the 47 shows which were recorded. More details when we have them. On the archive front I listened to rough mixes of the shows which were taped on the 'In Your Mind' tour in 1977. The playing is superb and even has the added curiosity of Ann O'Dell only performing for half a show in Glasgow due to ill-health. Luckily, recordings from the Glasgow and Sheffield shows when Chris Spedding's parents wore ear plugs, have survived ! Surround mix of 'Avalon' and Jonathan Ross Tickets posted by Jim Lawn 23.11.02 I have listened to the surround mix of 'Avalon' this afternoon and it is superb ! It is amazing to hear all the instruments and in particular the backing vocals of Fonzi Thornton . Standout tracks were 'More Than This','The Space Between' and of course 'Avalon' itself as each track revealed elements of the mix which were buried before. The plan is to release the 21st Anniversary Edition of the album on May 26th next year. There will be an expanded booklet and a bonus mix of "Always Unknowing". I've enquired about the possibility of getting some tickets for the Jonathan Ross show on the 12th of December and if anyone is interested in going please e-mail me at jim@lawn82.fsnet.co.uk. Bryan to appear on Jonathan Ross Show posted 23.11.02 Bryan will be appearing on the Jonathan Ross Show on 12th December. He will perform 2 songs and also be interviewed. Broadcast date is still to be confirmed. International news posted 23.11.02 Bryan will be appearing at the Vatican Christmas Special on December 14th. He will be singing two songs one of which will be a Christmas carol. More details to follow. Bryan and Jools Holland photo posted 07.11.02 See a picture of Bryan and Jools Holland Here. Radio News posted 07.11.02 At the end of last week Bryan completed a day's radio for the following shows in the UK... There was an interview with Mick Brown on Capital Gold which will be broadcast on December 9th between 10a.m. and 1p.m. Also recorded at the same time was an interview with Mick Brown for the programme 'From The Bottom To The Top' (We are still waiting to be advised of the broadcast date) This two hour show focuses on the week that Roxy was number one in the charts with 'Jealous Guy'.Bryan ran down the chart that week 'from the bottom to the top', talking about his memories of the other songs in the top ten that week in 1981. Later on that afternoon we pre-recorded a one hour special with Mark Goodier for Radio 2 which will be broadcast on January 1st 2003. Whilst at Radio 2 there was a ten minute interview for a Chart Anniversary Documentary which is currently being made to celebrate 50 years of the chart (still waiting for details of the broadcast date) As previously posted there was also a Radio 2 Drivetime interview with Richard Allinson for the Johnnie Walker Show which was broadcast on Friday 1st November. 'Frantic' selected by Uncut posted 06.11.02 The UK music magazine UNCUT has highlighted 'Frantic' as one of its' albums of 2002. The January issue with the review of 2002 is available on 5th December. Canadian show to be recorded posted 06.11.02 Bryan's show at the Hummingbird Centre in Toronto on 10th November will be recorded by the CBC Network for broadcast at a date still to be decided. WHISHT LADS, HAAD YER GOBS new posted 05.11.02 When Bryan offered to record a song especially for the Northumbria Anthology, he decided to tell an aawful story! 'The Lambton Worm', written in 1867, tells of the strange gannins-on that occurred on Wearside in the times of the Crusades. As Bryan is a Washington lad, the song was an obvious choice. 'As a boy, I remember playing on Worm Hill at Biddick. I've known the song since I was a child', said Bryan, 'and its mixture of horror and humour appeals to me. The Northumbria Anthology is an important project, and I'm delighted to be able to contribute a modern arrangement of the Lambton Worm.' The Northumbria Anthology is a massive collection of recordings representing the musical heritage to be found between the Tweed and the Tees. A twenty CD boxed set containing around 300 songs will shortly be published with about 500 copies of the set being distributed free of charge to libraries throughout the North East. Although the boxed set will also be on sale in record shops, the release of two separate albums giving a taste of the music is imminent. Bryan's version of the ' Lambton Worm' will be on the CD entitled 'From Tees to Tyne' featuring highlights of music from the southern part of the region. US release news posted 31.10.02 Just to confirm there will be no release in the United States for the Bryan Ferry album 'Classic Masters'. This was a compilation which was suggested to us by the record company but we have not agreed to this release. International News posted 27.10.02 We are sorry to say that Bryan's gig in Philadelphia has been postponed till early 2003. As soon as I have the new date I will post it. In answer to several questions there are no dates planned at this time in Latvia or any other of the Baltic States. Again should this situation change I will post accordingly but it is safe to say that nothing is on the cards for this year. Bryan is not performing on Jonathan Ross next weekend as has been reported in the press. A number of people have asked about the changing set list and new songs being played such as 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow' and 'Wooly Bully'. Without giving the game away I'm sure as the tour progresses there will be further additions and surprises... We have recorded all the shows on this tour and this follows a tradition of taping everything since the 'Bete Noire'tour. As with everything time constraints have made it difficult to catalogue and make sense of what we have but no doubt a series of live albums would be welcomed by many people. In the last few weeks there has been a couple of USA releases which have not been approved by us. The DVD of the Roxy/Ferry collection has no extras and we are hoping to release a UK edition in the future with some additions. There is also a Bryan Ferry compilation slated for release on 19th November through Virgin/EMI in America and we are hoping to cancel this if possible. Such releases without artist and management approval cut across catalogue plans for 2003. The Roxy Music live album from the recent tour is still scheduled for release in the first half of next year. Finally we are 'slowly' but surely getting our on-line shop on stream which will initially sell CD's and tour merchandise. We will eventually expand to include rare signed material such as sheet music and posters. Your questions answered posted 14.10.02 Due to the overwhelming response to this section we are not taking any more questions. We may invite some more later in the year. Read the answers. October 16th update posted by Jim Lawn 16.10.02 This week has seen us approve a radio edit of 'A Fool For Love' which is now likely to be released commercially on 9th December. Both 'A Fool For Love' and 'One Way Love' are going to radio next month. Rhett Davies has also been in today mixing the Brussels show for television broadcast. I've heard the mix of 'The Thrill Of It All' and it sounds fabulous! We've also been sent the rough mix of 'The Only Face' and I'm sure that this will be a great addition to the Jools Holland album. The release of the SACD of the Best of Roxy Music has been postponed until early 2003 due to production delays with Universal Music. I'm sorry to say that I've not been able to answer e-mails individually due to the high number of e-mails we are getting and due to touring and travel commitments. As I've said before please do not contact the web-site regarding back-stage passes and personal dedications during shows as there are too many requests and no way of making any of these requests happen. Jools Holland collaboration posted by Jim Lawn 11.10.02 I can now confirm that Bryan's collaboration on the Jools Holland album 'Small World Big Band Volume 2, More Friends' is 'The Only Face' and that the album will be released by Warner Strategic Marketing on November 18th. The session was recorded last week at Jools' studio in a couple of takes! Other collaborations on the album include Bono, Dionne Warwick, The Stereophonics and Norah Jones. We are also in the process of watching and approving footage from the session which we hope to post on the website soon. You can see all the news stories since the re Support Change posted by Jim Lawn 11.10.02 Rosie Thomas will not be the support act for the North American dates due to recording commitments. She will be replaced by Martina Sorbara whose debut album 'The Cure For Bad Deeds' is released on Nettwerk Records. Studio picture posted by Jim Lawn 11.10.02 See a picture here of Rhett Davies and Bob Clearmountain hard at work remixing the song 'Avalon'. Rhett is holding his original track split sheet and Bob with his new one. Also, there is a web cam that you can access via Bob's website www.mixthis.com. Single Artwork posted by Jim Lawn 03.10.02 Above is the sleeve artwork for the next UK single. It will be going to radio soon. we don't have a confirmed date yet for this or indeed a date for the full commercial release. Tour News posted by Jim Lawn 26.09.02 On behalf of Bryan I would like to thank everyone who has contacted us to wish him a Happy Birthday! We've had messages from all over the world and they are very much appreciated. I was in Paris for 4 days and thoroughly enjoyed the two concerts at the Olympia. On balance we all felt that the second night sounded better and was the more enjoyable concert. After the first night we had a party at Man Ray which is co-owned by Johnny Depp and Mick Hucknall and it was great for everyone to unwind and relax. I've just confirmed with Virgin that the SACD of the Roxy Music ' Best of...' is now likely to be released in November. Rhett Davies is off on Saturday to work on a 5.1 Surround Sound Mix of 'Avalon' with Bob Clearmountain in Los Angeles. It has been great fun and lots of detective work to find all the original master tapes. Rhett was recalling today that the original album was mixed in less than a week! How things have changed...We are still waiting for a confirmed release date. Tour News posted by Jim Lawn 20.09.02 We can now confirm that Rosie Thomas is the support act for Bryan's North American shows. Concert 'start times' in UK updated by Jim Lawn We have had a number of e-mails regarding the starting time of Bryan's UK concerts in October after an ad in the music magazine Q. Due to the long lead in time for ads in this magazine, the information was accurate then but has now changed with the addition of Rosie Thomas as support. Stage time for Bryan will be 9p.m. approx. UK Radio posted by Jim Lawn 11.09.02 Later this month we will be servicing 'A Fool For Love' and 'One Way Love' to radio in the UK. The intention is to broadcast on 27th September with 2 repeated transmissions later in the year. No news yet on the filming of the Brussels gig by French TV station 'Canal Jimmy'. Tour Update posted by Jim Lawn 11.09.02 On the tour bus to tonight's gig in Antwerp we watched the footage from the Brussels show shot for French TV, which looked and sounded very good. A broadcast date has yet to be confirmed, we will post more details here when we get them and make every effort to get a clip up for the website. Tour Update posted by Jim Lawn 09.09.02 Five days into the tour, Bryan and the band are in Amsterdam. Tonight's show is being recorded by local radio for transmission at a later date. Tomorrow's show in Brussels is to be filmed by French TV station 'Canal Jimmy'. The Dutch audience will hear a new addition to the setlist as Bryan and the band will perform 'Tokyo Joe' for the first time in 25 years! North American News posted by Jim Lawn 06.09.02 The Roxy Music DVD 'Live At The Apollo' will be released in North America later this month. A Super Audio CD release of 'The Best Of Roxy Music' is slated for October 21st . However this is not completely guaranteed to happen on this date as we understand there may be some delay on the production side. Reports from North America are suggesting that there will be a release of the Bryan Ferry/ Roxy Music Video Collection on DVD. We are hoping that this may be delayed in order for us to have the opportunity of expanding the DVD to include some bonus material and utilise the extra capacity on the DVD format. As with many contractual situations the situation is never as straight forward as it seems... Finally we are now in a position to sell back catalogue CD's and merchandise on the website starting at the end of August.
